Simon Says Stamp

I know I haven't posted in a very long time, but I just read a challenge on Karens blog about Simon Says Stamp. I was interested so I looked around at their site for a bit. I love love love the new Basic Grey 6x6 Lemonade Paper Pad. Those 36 pages are beautiful. If you want a chance to win go to http://simonsaysstampblog.blogspot.com/2009/08/chatter-from-cha-orlando-summer-2009.html

I have not been able to stamp very much with my new job and full time school, but I will be off school for 4 weeks very soon, so I am hoping to catch up on some cardmaking then.
I can't wait!!

Time of Love and Loss

Hello fellow bloggers,
What a long strange trip it has been!  Yeah, I needed to put that Grateful Dead reference in there...their music soothes the weary soul.  My grandma passed away almost two weeks ago, so I have been dealing with that.  It has been a stressful time for my family.  Couple that with wrapping up one job and starting a new one.  I am a giant bundle of nerves and stress.  I've had no time to really do any cards, but I will post some that I did just a couple of weeks ago!  Please keep our family in prayer for healing.  Thank you and enjoy

Finished at Last!

I have been busy since the week before Easter with Easter preparations. During holy week, I received my annual letter from the District Committee of Ordained Ministry. I have spent the last several days writing madly answering five very important questions for the year. As I was wrestling with these questions, I kept thinking why am I jumping through hoops for a job that will soon only be part of part time? I would have much rather been making cards this week, but alas, such is life, eh? Yep yep. Tomorrow is my 14 year wedding anniversary so I don't know how much card making I will get done. Have a great Friday!

*Be the Change card: Tag and paper ribbon by k & company. Be the change sentiment stamp.
* In Dreams card: Tag, paper ribbon, and button brad by k & company. In dreams sentiment stamp

New Stuff

Ok, this will be a reasonably short post. I got some new stuff yesterday at Michael's so I wanted to share the card I made this morning...enjoy! Oh! And I am so excited!! I found a brand new Cricut on eBay yesterday (I actually waited up till the wee hours of this morning to bid on it) for less than half the retail cost. It comes with one cartridge to start, but that's OK...eBay will come in handy for finding other cartridges. It shipped today! I will have it by the end of the week! Woohoo!!!

*Thinking of You Card
: Paper by My Mind's Eye, Butterfly tag by k & company (wild saffron series). Thinking of You stamp and Sending You Hugs and Kisses by Hero Arts. Rich Cocoa ink by Tsukineko (Memento). Azurite ink by ColorBox Chalk. Paper ribbon by k & company (wild saffron series)

Virescent?

Virescent: becoming green. From my favorite website http://phrontistery.info/colours.html I love when things begin to turn green .... the grass .... the Chia herb garden that I recently planted (yeah, there's sprouts!). Imagine my surprise today then that it was raining, then hailing, then snowing the rest of the day. Unbelievable. Its the middle of April. I went to Dubuque to meet up with my friend who flew in from Chicago to see her sick grandpa. We had some Chinese buffet for lunch and hit up everything from the mall to Target to Walmart to Michael's. Ahh, Michael's. Paper-crafting bliss when I can't get to my sort of local scrapbook shop. I picked up some stickers, and tags by k & company. That company is amazing. The artists they have are incredibly talented. I haven't made anything today. I think this week will be sparse in the card making because there is a lot going on for work. I have to finish paperwork for the District Committee, plus I got a phone call to officiate a funeral on Thursday. Breathe. Once I get through the first half of the week, it will be ok. Breathe. Remind me to breathe.
Here are a few cards I have been working on the last couple of weeks. Thanks for looking!

*Follow Your Heart Card used felt stickers from k & company. The card base is standard white core paper by Close to My Heart. Blue cardstock from DCWV. The sentiment is by DCWV (vellum quote stack sentiments). I sent this card to a friend of mine who lives in Bellingham. She rocks so I thought she needed a rocking card!
*Thanks for the Memories Card used a heart punch from Creative Memories. The stamp is by Annette Watkins from the late 90's. Standard white core papers by Close to My Heart sanded with Close to My Heart sanding papers.

Been Busy

I have been making quite a few cards of late, and not looking at many words to be snarky with.  Oooh, that could be the word of the day: Snarky. Sarcastic, impertinent, or irreverent in tone or manner. (www.m-w.com)

Here are the cards I've been working on the last few days.

Happy Mother's Day stamp by Printworks.  Paper and stickers by DCWV.  Paper sanded by sanding tools from CTMH.

The felt thank you is a sticker from K & Company.    I used Coffee Shimmers over the Thank You stamp.

What? No clever word of the day?

Nope. Not today. This past week has been interesting, challenging, and tiring. I've been making about 3-5 cards a day. Quite a pace for me. I'm beginning to question why I am making all of them. I posted a couple on Etsy, but have had no hits. I want to be able to sell them. Maybe I should take them to some of the shops in neighboring towns and see if they would like to consign them. I really think my cards are cute and fun and I believe that there are people out there who would like to purchase them to send to loved ones!
Here are some recent cards up for your perusal. Please enjoy!

I love homophones

Homophone: words having the same sound but different meanings.
Wear, ware, where. There, their, and they're. Weather, whether. Sunday, sundae. There is a website dedicated just to homophones. (www.homophone.com)

I've been feeling kind of sick, so card-making has become consuming the last couple of days. Here are my latest ones. I've made about 30 in 3 days, but I'm not posting all of them here...just a couple.

Have a great day ~ thanks for looking!

For both cards I used paper and die cuts by My Mind's Eye.

Aval

Aval: of, like or pertaining to a grandparent.
I feel a great sadness today because I finally received word about my grandmother. I recently found out she has breast cancer and that an MRI was done to find out the extent. Today I heard from my step-mom that the cancer is also in her bones. They cannot do surgery, but are doing what they can with chemotherapy. I know that my time to go see her and spend precious time with her is growing short. I have shed many tears today both from the news, along with thinking about how many things she has taught me, which can be shared with my daughter. The memories will not fade, the history will not fade as long as it is kept alive by the living.

Secondly today I spent a lot of time organizing my card-making supplies, and I need to go shopping to get more organizational supplies. This has been therapeutic for me to cleanse with the coming spring.

I set up my Etsy shop last night and will be placing the first items up for sale by the weekend. Here is the link to my upcoming shop dragonflybliss13.etsy.com

I have placed another card pictures up for your browsing. Good night and Happy Friday!!

Gramineous

Gramineous: of, like or pertaining to grass; grassy. I will be happy to see the grass turn green again. I love spring, when all of the colors begin their change again. I'm going to be on the move to make cards that reflect the coming spring. But in the meantime, here are a couple of cards I made at Christmas.

The circles and rectangle pieces are from Wild Asparagus.

The Begging of Blogging

Ok, so most of my friends have a blog of some sort, and they are very talented individuals. I too have talent. Of course I can be hyper-critical of my work, but what artist isn't? I love paper crafting, and have been scrapbooking and stamping for about 13 years now. I have recently gotten back into making greeting cards, but not in the same way I used to. I used to just stamp an image, color it in and I was done. Now that isn't good enough. I enjoy making cards with different papers layered with blingy items. I'll be posting some more of my work here shortly. Before Christmas 2008, I made roughly 150 cards within a month and gave them to family as gifts. It was a blessing to make them and to give them away.

More to come!

Papers from Close to my Heart, stickers from Debbie Mumm (if memory serves correctly)
